Thanks to all of you that came out to Brooklyn this past Friday to check out the Bjorkestra workshop & performance at ShapeShifter Lab. As always, we had a great time playing there, and if you haven’t been there yet, I highly recommend stopping by there to see a show. There’s a great lineup of distinguished jazz artists that are performing there on a regular basis.
We’ll be suspending our monthly residency there for the month on June to perform at the Red Hook Jazz Festival on June 10th, but will be returning to ShapeShifter on July 7.
Speaking of which…I’m very excited to have been asked to have The Bjorkestra at this year’s Red Hook Jazz Festival. There’s two dates: June 10 & June 17, and the organizers (who are very awesome people, btw) have put together an amazing lineup of NYC based jazz artists. They are currently doing a fundraising drive to help with the cost of making this excellent event happen, and you can donate via their Kickstarter campaign at: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/150612466/red-hook-jazz-festival-2012-brooklyn-ny?ref=live
They are only a few hundred dollars away from their very modest goal of $1500…please help them reach their goal before the deadline! Rewards for your donation include free admission to the concerts, free CD’s, etc. Most of the money raised will go to pay the bands – and since I now charge $1,000,000 for a Bjorkestra show, they’re going to need every penny (just kidding, of course, we only charge $500,000).
